How do I install the panels?
Install Strips fixed to the wall, ideally at 600mm intervals, provide multiple panel support points and increase load capacity. Once these are secured, the panels sit securely on the teeth of the strips and are ready to use. Install strips are not entirely necessary as panels can be fixed directly to the wall. However they do provide a more satisfactory installation and no screw heads are visible.
Can I cut the panels?
Yes, they can be cut to length using wood-working tools.
How many install strips do I need?
When fitting an area of panels to a wall, it is normal practice to place three panels (whether 4ft or 8ft long) one above the other. Or if you wish to nearly fill the wall floor to ceiling, six panels one above the other
You require five Install Strips for every three 8ft panels spaced at 600mm intervals, and three strips for every three 4ft panels.
For greater flexibility, Install Strips have snap points at which they can be readily divided into three smaller pieces.
If you are covering a large area with 8ft panels, then you can obtain a very close approximation for the quantity of Install Strips by dividing the number of panels by 3 and multiplying by 5.
So fifty 8ft panels would require (50/3) x 5 = 83 strips
The kits that we have on the website include the install strips. This is something to bear in mind to save ordering too many install strips.
Install strips are best fitted onto wooden battens or studding. If you are fitting the panels to a brick or cinder block wall, then we recommend that you fit vertical wooden battens first, at 600mm intervals. This will eliminate any undulations in the brickwork that might make it difficult to locate some of the panels onto the Install Strip teeth.
Will my wall be able to take the weight of the StorePanel?
This very much depends on the wall you are installing the panels on to. If it is going into a brick or breeze block it will be fine.
StorePanel is only going to be as strong as the wall that it is on so although a plaster board wall would take the weight of the panels, it would not take the weight of the items that you hang from it. It is essential therefore that the install strips are attached to the studding so the panels are able to meet your storage needs.
What is the maximum load for the StorePanel panels?
The panels are made of a high density heavy duty material. There is no definitive load capacity but customer do hang heavy items off them such as gym weights and medium duty lawn mowers. Be sure to spread the load however using 2-3 hooks.
It is very important however, that the install strips are installed correctly and into a wall that is strong enough to take the weight you wish to hang from it.
Can I order a combination of 8 foot and 4 foot panels?
While you can do this, we do recommend against it. The different size panels will be made in different batches we find that there can be a shade difference between the two and if placed side by side does not look a perfect match.
The panels are very easily cut down to size, so we would recommend using all 8 foot or all 4 foot in your design.
What can I do about edges and joins?
We have a selection of different shaped strips that can be placed over joins and the edges. Although the joints and edges are finished well these strips are available should you want a professionally finished look to your wall.
How will my StorePanel™ items arrive?
This very much depends on the size of your order. If it is a large order then they will arrive on a pallet to your door. 8ft panels are delivered on a double oversize pallet for their protection. For smaller orders we use a courier such as UPS to get you your items.
In both cases we will contact you first to book in a suitable day for you to receive your items.
